Google SMS - the fun just doesn't stop

Google rolled this new feature out a couple weeks ago; I've been trying so hard to keep up with their almost-daily announcements of new Google-related stuff that I didn't get to it until now.

Google SMS "enables you to easily get precise answers to specialized queries from your mobile phone or device."

No links.

No web pages.

Just the answer.

Translation: search the web from any cellphone that has text messaging.

Apparently this works even if you're phone isn't internet-enabled.

Hey, wait a minute: that means me.

I'm gonna go get my phone right this sec and try it.

Be right back.

OK, I tried it, but nothing happened.

But don't take my word for it.

Remember, in my other, superhero life I'm "TechnoDolt."

So just because I can't do it, all that means is you probably can.

This is good information. I tried out Google SMS service and it works from my tmobile phone. I also found this site that offers a whole bunch of text messaging services. I use them for sending FREE international text messages, product reviews, weather, movies etc. Take a look. I do know several people are using them and many of them found it useful. I have also heard they may have a tie up with Yahoo for these services.
