'Inside the U.S. Secret Service'
This show airs tonight from 8 to 10 p.m. Eastern on the National Geographic Channel (Direct TV channel 276).
I can't wait.
I find the whole Secret Service ethos fascinating.
That people can be trained to disregard their own powerful natural survival instincts and step in front of the President to take a bullet meant for him - as agent Tim McCarthy did in 1981,
saving the life of Ronald Reagan - is amazing and profound.
Whenever the President is on TV, I find it far more interesting and educational to watch the Secret Service agents protecting him as they constantly scan the crowd,
watching the hands - always the hands.
