'Luggage Folly' virus spreads across the ocean to Newark

Just in yesterday, the news that the airport fiasco in Paris reported here last week has been replicated at Newark's Liberty International Airport this week.

It seems that a fake bomb planted in a passenger's luggage this past Tuesday at Newark Airport's Terminal C as part of a training exercise got lost.

Despite hours of searching Tuesday night, the bag containing the fake bomb could not be located, and the plane containing the black, soft-covered bag - complete with simulated Semtex explosive, wiring, a detonator and a clock - made it onto Amsterdam-bound Flight 70, with more than 200 passengers aboard.

Airport security officials in Amsterdam recovered it after the plane landed there.

Predictably, Transportation Security Administration officials familiar with the matter said the test never should have happened in the first place.

Now, how many more reasons do you need not to fly unless it's absolutely necessary?

And not to check your luggage under any circumstances?
