I'm not a Barbie collector, and I have no little girls, but I think this Barbie would make a cool friend to sit and talk to about fashion. This chick must be doing something right if she's wearing Versace. Where else are you going to get a couture design for under two hundred bucks? It would inspire me to seek elegance and luxury in my own life. Maybe with a few yards of ribbon I could have my own faux Versace. Plus this Barbie has that anorexic supermodel look that would inspire me to turn away from the chocolate no matter how bad I'm coughing.

Isn't it amazing? A doll with nicer clothes than most of the people I know. {O.K., O.K., so I'm a schoolteacher, and my poverty is self-inflicted.)

Still, I wonder what one would do with a Versace Barbie. Display her on the coffee table? In a glass etagere? Stick her in the closet and hope that someone even more disturbed buys her when she appreciates? It's certainly a different way of thinking.
