When I taught freshman biology labs at the University of Southern Mississippi, one Dr. Curry would lecture anyone that harmed a spider about all of the great things that spiders do for humans in the big cycle of life - as they are natural controllers of much of the insect population that we swat at and spray all summer in the South, anyways. As marketers have known for years, repeating a message over and over must be effective, as I let them go about my business as I go about mine - inside and outside.

Maybe it's all deeply rooted in my love of Charlotte's Web - the book and the movie - as a child too. Spiders have always just seemed like beautiful, friendly creatures to me. Nature's artists...spinning intricate webs for all of us to enjoy (especially on a dewy morning at daybreak).

All that aside, it better be a big-ass spider if you are going to use that contraption to put it outside. Most of the spiders I come across are rather tiny. That sucker would smush them for sure.

Nope, not even going to think about it. Spiders get flushed after having been captured in a paper towel or tissue, or what ever is handy. Especially after one crawled up my arm when I changed from one purse to another. Yuck.
