OK, it was a movie tie-in edition, after I read the fine print. So they were using the movie poster cover to sell more books to those who want to read the book before the movie.

So does the poster designer get book cover design credit too? I'll have to check that out at the bookstore the next time I visit, I guess.

I'll quit now. I promise.

That was actually the cover of the mass market paperbook originally: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307275558/qid=1150836150/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/002-8571465-1953632?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

I'm just saying is all. Credit where credit is due and all that.

(I hope the book cover designer got a cut.)

Oh, that is wonderful. So simple, so perfect. It should be a treat to see old Meryl sink her chops into this one. She seems to be one of the rare genuinely unaffected people in the biz and it's always interesting to see the nice play mean. Pauline Kael once wrote about her that she couldn't just chew food, she had to ACT chewing food. May be. But I can't wait to see her acting bitchy.
