Best dress of the year
As Guy Trebay, in a October 7, 2007 New York Times magazine story, described it, "At Jil Sander, the designer Raf Simons showed a sleek, sculptural dress with a network of tightly constructed pleats that converged at the small of the back. It was as if the garment were an attempt by this cerebral designer to externalize the nerve-rich anatomical crossroads that tantric texts describe as the seat of erotic power and, provided you hit the correct button, of bliss."
Black wool with sun-ray detail.
$1,875 at Bergdorf Goodman.
Guy Trebay stands above and apart from the rest of the fashion writer pack — always has and always will.

NCE, you crush me! Tell me you're not letting yourself be tyrranized by some stupid dress.
Attempt to externalize the anatomical seat of erotic power & bliss, my gargantuan ass. Those butt-pleats are just apres-feedbag let-out darts.

"Sigh" will have to figure out how to fit into an American size -5 from an 8; am working on it, really (along with everything else)!
Meanwhile, the following made my week!: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21248862/site/newsweek/?nav=slate?from=rss
