It was 44 years ago today...
The day the music died.
Odd, not a word in any of the papers about it.
Something exists only as long as its memory remains alive.

Note added at 3:14 p.m. today: I just happened on an Op-Ed page piece on the subject in today's New York Times.

Note added at 6:04 p.m. today: Dr. Michael Rack just pointed out — correctly — in a comment that "the day the music died was February 3, 1959."

joe,
I know we should never forget certain monumental moments in history but that footage was really graphic, and in my opinion, unnecessary to post on your site. A written reminder of JFK's assassination would have sufficed. I was still laughing about the yodeling pickle when I hit the 'play' button on the video for goodness sake.......

JFK - what would have happened had he lived?
Quite a few people criticize the Warren Report - but my parents and I lived in Silver Springs, MD at the time of the publication of that venerable report and I inherited the entire 20 volumes of testimony and final report. The GPO charged a pittance for it in 1964. You can read it here: http://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/warren-commission-report/
