In this back yard the daffydills peaked a month ago and now they're all crisp and brown and crinkly and over the hill. Which excites me not at all, 'cause next comes the loooong, hot, brutal, hellish, humid, bug & slug-ridden summer. (Spring, like fall, around here, lasts about a week. It's pretty much winter then !boom! summer, till around early December. Aaah, the deep south. Not all mint juleps and cotillions! Sometimes you have to re-paint the columns out on the veranda.)

Meanwhile, 270 miles south, they were out two weeks ago and now the pear trees are blossoming.

Thank you for that! After all of the snow we've had here in Michigan this year, it's hard to believe that spring is on the way!
