Martin Margiela is the new Howard Hughes

Prehome_english_2

Or Thomas Pynchon, take your pick.

According to Patricia Marx, writing in the April 7, 2008 New Yorker magazine, "No photographs have been taken of this Belgian designer since 1988."

Impressive if true.

He was 31 at the time.

FunFact: Today's his birthday — you could look it up.

His biography on artandculture.com states, "Martin Margiela has been called the J. D. Salinger of the fashion world, and rightly so — he refuses to be photographed and will only be interviewed by fax."

Can anyone prove Marx wrong?

I'm not even gonna ask my crack research team to try, they're way too spaced out right now for anything requiring a modicum of focus and attention.

Stay tuned.

joehead Nation is in more places, with more access, than you might think....
