'Goats Eat Free at the Getty'

"The Getty Center in Los Angeles has contracted about 60 goats, including the one shown above, to eat the brush on its 110 acres. If left unmanaged, the brush could serve as fuel for wildfires."

That's what Lawrence Van Gelder reported in the lead item of his "Arts, Briefly" column in yesterday's New York Times.

You could look it up.

Damn, it's good to be a goat. What a job -- getting paid to eat, and all-you-can-eat eating, too. Plus, they don't seem to ever worry about their weight. 60 goats, 110 acres, that's a lot of chow, isn't it? I wonder how long it takes one goat to finish off an acre... I seem to be obsessed with this... I think in my possum brain I'm equating it with 60 people to polish off 110 acres of pizza...
