Holy Grail of rock 'n roll found — Jimi Hendrix's first burnt guitar

The back story is on the video above.

Long back story short: Hendrix set his 1965 Fender Stratocaster ablaze during a 1967 concert at the Finsbury Astoria in London. It was discovered last year stored in the home of a friend, former press agent Tony Garland.

Hendrix squirted lighter fluid on his ax before torching it.

The charred guitar is expected to bring at least $1 million when it goes on the block as part of a rock memorabilia auction conducted by the Fame Bureau at the Idea Generation Gallery in London on September 4, 2008.

The video refers to the 1967 concert, which I believe is the first public "light my Strat on fire" for Mr. Purple Haze. Lest we forget, there were other concerts where the Strat got lit, including at the end of his Woodstock performance. I need to get that on DVD. The Country Joe "Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag" is appropriate once more - sadly.

This is strange news, since I'd seen a few articles that indicated that Frank Zappa's son Dweezil owned the burnt guitar. The article also had a few photographs of Frank's son with the guitar. Did Hendrix burn more than one o his guitars?
