Not Mae West
She said, "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful."
According to Jeff, writing on CNN.com on September 3, 2008, "Too much is never enough: That was the motto for MTV when I was a kid."
I think MTV got it from somewhere else but I'll be darned if I can find out where.
Anyone who comes up with the answer that somehow eluded my crack research team, don't be shy, send it on so I can put your name in lights right here on the front page.
See also research on "Always too much and never enough."

So Imagine my surprise today when after having bought myself a pair of Beverly Feldman shoes, I discover that within a heart-shaped, crown-wielding logo, Mrs. Feldman's motto is apparently "Too much is not enough." I thought the phrase was familiar. By a word's deviation however, I cannot claim to have found the author of your quote.

I thought it was Morris Lapidus, architect of the Fontainebleau hotel and other over-the-top buildings. It was also the title of his autobiography.
