PAGE PROTECTED BY COPYSCAPE DO NOT COPY
Reminds me of the late, great Chick Hearn's "matador defense."
Wonder what this website is paying for Copyscape's service?
'Cause they're sure not getting their money's worth.
I mean, if a TechnoDolt™ can defeat it, well, it's not as if you have to be a rocket surgeon....
Wait a minute... that's not right.
Tree surgeon — yeah, that's it.

As mentioned, it is more to find plagiarized sites...there are sites out there that will take your page and copy it wholesale for their advertising bucks, and pass it off as if it were the original.
I've had it happen with my site when it was more active...I really didn't care...occasionally, competitors would contact me to see how I dealt with it (one recently, because both of our forums were seemingly merged on some other site)...I just told him, I didn't care...do I care? Yeah, but not enough to do anything about it...I have a life...

Like the time a driver almost caused a really serious wreck. On the rear of his van was the typical sticker "How is my driving" with a phone number. I called it on my cell phone and got a disconnected message........

Must be related to Sony, or even worse MS.

The banner is free, but the fear of God instilled in any potential plagiarizers is priceless.

I have no idea what the matador thing is & no knowledge of protected anything, but in a general sense, isn't the best way to get anybody to do anything to "forbid" it? Take steps to prevent it? Do NOT blah blah, Absolutely NO blah blah, Keep Out, No Trespassing, kind of thing? Jeez, might as well send out invitations. Humans can't STAND the no & don't order.
And speaking of craziness, why in the HELL is it that holidays bring out the reprehensible qualities in people (i.e., families)? The flakey become completely looneytooney, the obdurate become bullies -- it's a sure thing. Message to self: never ride with any family member to such a thing - take own vehicle for escape.

To be fair, copyscape seems to be in the business of finding plagiarized versions of webpages of sites that are paying for their premium service, as opposed to preventing copying in the first place. (Hard to see how they could achieve the latter anyways.)
Never heard of them, though, so unclear how well they do their job...
