The ghost of AOL
Joe Peach sent me the great photo up top, accompanied by his reminiscences about the days of the ubiquitous "AOL FREE" discs that were everywhere.
His favorite line of all time: "UNLIMITED AOL FREE (for 45 days)."

Man, I used AOL for years without paying due to free offers. All you needed was multiple credit cards, and you were set, as they would ALWAYS give you more free time the first time you tried to cancel.
