Brocken spectre

"A phenomenon known as a Brocken spectre floats over the Tatra mountains in Poland. It's usually caused as the shadow of the observer is cast on the clouds."

Ive always known this phenomenon as a "glory". Galen Rowell has a picture of like this taken in the High Sierras that is absolutely spectacular. Its in one of his books. Of course I don't remember which one. Oh, I love your website--- Keep it up! Frank G.

Been there, seen that. It is easily replicated with a strong flashlight, fog and a person standing near the top of a hill. Illuminate the person from below and observe projected shadow on fog "screen" from the other side of hill.
