How many ants does it take to carry a microchip?
Fantastic photos featuring the art of the colored scanning electron microscope,
in some cases magnifying its subjects 22 million times, from Brandon Broll's book, "Microcosmos."
From the top down:
wood ant with microchip; household dust particle; Velcro;
cigarette paper;
Fallopian tube fimbria (tissue fringe);
eyelash hairs;
corroded nail.

I don't know about the "false" colors on the eyelash picture,
you never saw my 15 year old punk neighbor ;-)

All very nice. I just bought a copy. I hope that readers understand that these images are "false colors" where SEM images are shades of grey with a color value assigned to individual shades.
