bookofjoe on Zite

Last night I was idly noodling around on the iPad and had a look at the Zite app, my favorite of all the aggregators like PulseFlipboard and their ilk.

I was quite surprised to see yesterday's 4:01 p.m. post had been selected by Zite for republication [above] on the second page of the general interest version.

I liked seeing bookofjoe on the same page as The Economist, the Grey Lady and the Washington Post.

Even better was that right-hand column sidebar [below]

that said "Give me more from... bookofjoe."

But it might be too good to be true.

Just as it appears I'm gaining traction in the mainstream, Kara Swisher of the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that "A panoply of big media giants sent a cease-and-desist letter today to Zite, the Apple iPad news reader app. The Washington Post, AP, Gannett, Getty Images, Time, Dow Jones and many other media organizations were part of the action."

You won't find my name on that letter.

In fact, I'd happily pay Zite to include my posts.

And you can quote me.

Paying for inclusion is not a good idea. Why not set up a revolving Paypal-to-charity button? You could solicit a list of charities from us and, with a bit of due diligence, you could be the, hands-off, funnel of micro-donations to worthy causes.

That would put you into the Internet stratosphere faster than Japanese I-131.
