No such thing as a free lunch? How about free New York Times?

What's this?

It came in just after 12 noon today.

I didn't take too long to click 'cause it's not that often great things fall out of the sky around here.

And in about five seconds I had activated free unlimited access to the New York Times online — for the rest of the year.

You could look it up — so I did:

The way we like it.

(from Canada where the paywall is already in place).

On the iPad, the rather nice app will no longer work (except for the Top News) without a subscription.

BUT, just view the NY Times in Safari and for the duration of your visit simply switch off "JavaScript" in the Safari Settings. No blocking of, or limits on, your viewing then.

(Note, while the iPad app was one of the better newspaper apps, it dropped a large amount of daily content on the NYTimes site, so I'd given up on it recently any and gone back to the website)

Not like you need an invite for free access... anyone can get free access...

Whoever made the firewall really didn't bother to make it secure.
