Pomegranate Deseeder — "Gone in 60 seconds"

Screen Shot 2011-07-28 at 5.31.04 PM

Reminds me of a movie I saw a while back ("Gone in 60 Seconds" — not pomegranate issues).

An interesting addition to your batterie de cuisine, to be sure.

From the website:

In under a minute this pomegranate deseeder quickly and easily removes those tasty seeds trapped inside.

Simply place half a pomegranate on the deseeder and tap.

Seeds quickly pop loose from the fruit.

7.25" Ø.

$6.95 (pomegranates not included).

Free version:

1. Cut off the crown (pokey end bit) so you can just see the seeds.
2. Score lines down the sides, most ways through the rind but not all the way through.
3. Soak cut side down in a bowl of water for 5-10 minutes.
4. Break it apart by hand in the water - the seeds will sink, white membranes will float.
5. Discard membranes and water, eat yo' seeds!

FYI, NEVER cut straight through the center of a pomegranate. You'll get juice EVERYWHERE. That was my first clue that this gadget is a bunch of malarkey...
