According to Sam Gosling, professor of psychology at the University of Texas in Austin and author of "Snoop: What Your Stuff Says About You," they are:

• Openness

• Conscientiousness

• Extroversion

• Agreeableness

• Neuroticism

Gosling told Bruce Feiler in a September 25, 2011 New York Times story that the first three above "are clearly revealed in people's spaces. (The other two... are more internal)."
