Fantastic Eames Chair
Charles and Ray Eames Herman Miller DKW chair, 1950s.
Black steel wire frame with leather upholstery on walnut dowel legs.
Talk about overbuilt.
I'm amazed that the chair brought only $400 at auction in 2009.

As probably the only auctioneer who frequents this site, I would be remiss if I did not point out that there CAN be bargains found at auction - but we ALSO very often achieve "stupid money" on certain things. This is why all of the greatest riches in the world are sold at auction. I, for one, will chant on.

I grew up with this chair. A set of 6 in navy blue in the dining room, so comfortable. It was the benefit of having a contemporary architect for a dad. My brother has them now, but I have the Warren Platners :)
