Cat and leaf
Yesterday I was raking leaves in my backyard when I happened upon the particularly striking specimen featured above and below, a magnolia leaf burnished by time and the sun.
I brought it around to the front of the house to see what Gray Cat, ensconced on the doormat in her surveillance pose, might think of it, but she had other priorities just then.
As it should be.

Because it detracted from the poetic meld of pea-green mat with pea-green eyes.
