EEWW.
I've always liked those little tiny real skinny cocktail straws & I used to request one with any drink at all, no matter how no-nonsense & rugged, thousands of years ago in my bar-going days. There really is something ridiculous looking about someone sucking up two fingers of plain booze with a glittery little straw.

Aside from Tiki Bar drinks I don't see much demand for straws in cocktails.
Another cocktail that the "beef straw" would work with is the Bullshot.
