Saturday night at the movies: "Charade"

Starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, directed by Stanley Donen, this 1963 "lightly comedic mystery thriller" is oftimes called "the best Hitchcock film Hitchcock never made."

Culinary Blowtorch

Wrote Eric Hansen in Make, "I have a new favorite tool. I needed to make a few solder joints on a ham radio antenna in my backyard. My daughter's culinary blowtorch, purchased for making crème brûlée, was the perfect solution: lightweight, pencil flame, easy to control. I have since seen the same basic torch packaged and sold as a workshop soldering tool at the local hardware store, but this one solders antennas and also makes great crème brûlée."

From Make:

Caramelize sugar for a perfect crunchy "lid" without heating the custard underneath.

Easy to use, with anti-flare flame, adjustable temperature, and safety lock.

Fuel not included.

Located in New York City, MoMath features over 40 hands-on exhibits.

The idea is to demonstrate "that math is actually out in the world, and we brought it in here," said chief of design Tim Nissen.

Can't get to Gotham and the gift shop?

No worries, I've got you covered: visit the Math Clocks website and pick one up.

Time's passing.

Skike Roller Skis

If these are anywhere near as much fun as inline skating, I just might take a flyer on a pair.

By far the best athletic days of my life were the five times I did the 86 mile Athens-to-Atlanta inline skate marathon.

Beyond wonderful.

But I digress as I daydream back to 2000 when the skating stopped....

From the website:

Roller ski in your own shoes — no ski boots needed!

Supports up to 265 pounds.

5" and 6" inflatable tires roll smoothly on grass, gravel, hard-packed dirt, crushed stone, and pavement.

From $299.
