Progressive Flo goes to the dark side — With fantastic results

I've been enchanted, mesmerized even, by the new Progressive commercial featuring Flo not as Ms. Ditzy Chirpy but, rather, a William Shatner Negotiater-esque dark presence, emerging from the shadows to offer a couple of nerds her new Snapshot comparison tool.

Dweeb: "My insurance company told me not to talk to people like you."

Flo: "You always do what they tell you?"

"You don't even have to switch. Unless… you're scared."

Wonderful, wonderful piece of work.

I agree with 6etc., although not as vehemently.

Flo has always annoyed me.

We've docilely accepted constraints on our privacy to the point that we have very little left any more.

Look, Big Brother Joe, you and your GPS/Cell/auto computer tracking device can stay in the shadows. I despise that slimy lizard with the faux British accent and the faux floozie who are peddling minuscule discounted insurance premiums in exchange for our consent to 24/7/365 monitoring of our motoring.

Now, your Mercedes may be too old to interface - but those of us who value our privacy are more than alarmed at this latest "innovation" by the insurance industry - imagine what a snarky Divorce Lawyer could do with a subpoena (or, your local constabulary, when proving up your contacts, locations, driving patterns)?

Oy! Squish that cute Gecko and the funky spokes-broad together with their spyware in the nearest garbage compactor!!!
