Turkish Delight and other worldly pleasures

Server

My Crack Statistics Team®™© — there are teams you've never even dreamt of here, Horatio... but I digress — just brought news that right now, for the first time ever, readers in four different non-English-speaking countries (top) each comprise over 1% of my readership.

Turkey along with France, Japan, and Germany at this very zeptosecond are sitting down to a very nice piece of pie chart.

As the move to bookofjoeTV continues, such demographic shifts are exactly what I'm expecting: TV needs no translation, especially the sort of absurdity and nonsense I expect to be the hallmark of bojTV.

All credit to Gray Cat, working tirelessly behind the scenes to carry me to the promised land.

BehindTheMedspeak: Decoding prescriptions with Wolfram Alpha

1

..............................................

Everyone knows that one of the requirements for medical school admission — at least in the U.S. — is handwriting so illegible that it's impossible for anyone charged with reading it — nurses, pharmacists, patients — to conclusively know what it says.

..............................................

2

..............................................

I solved this problem while I was still in med school by dropping cursive and printing EVERYTHING: progress notes, prescriptions, orders, you name it.

..............................................

3

..............................................

But I'm a lone wolf in this respect.

Now comes Richard Clark on Wolfram Alpha with a wonderful decoder.

Way past time.

"I'm the world's worst cleaning lady" — Allstate Mayhem Man reaches new heights

Whoever's creating the latest batch of Allstate ads is on an absolute roll right now: the past month's including this keeper are the best ever — eclipsing even memorable Christmas tree-flying-off-car-roof and idiotstick kid-machinegunning-house-with-gravel-from-atop riding mower.

"But I don't notice the loose rug at the top of your stairs. And that's about to become an issue for me."

Oh!

Be still my heart.
