"Oblivion" — "I am Jack Harper, and I’m home."

Up top in the headline, the final line from the best movie of the year.

Not even close.

$14 (senior discount, heh) just bought me a pair of Real 3D glasses and an eighth-row-center seat in my Podunk town's only IMAX theater for two hours of space opera and excitement.

In no particular order, elements of:

• "Top Gun"

• "Star Wars"

• "Total Recall"

• Phillip K. Dick-ian multiple selves simultaneously existing in the same reality/space-time continuum (as opposed to everyday life, which keeps the continua discretely separated for our living convenience and ease of reference)

• "2001: A Space Odyssey"

I am so glad I didn't read any reviews, which I'm sure are horrible.

I know what I like and I liked this movie.

Tom Cruise has never been better — at least not since "Top Gun": this time around he's got swaggah.

Make a clock out of anything

It supplies the mechanism to keep time, you supply the hour and minute hands.

Love it.

"Once a cat butler, always a cat butler" — Bill Hall

Reader P. Tempke sent me this wonderful essay by Bill Hall, former editorial page editor of the Lewiston (Idaho) Morning Tribune.

Gray Cat's Favorite Thing: FURminator de-shedding tool

It would appear Gray Cat's not the only kitty on the planet who loves what this thing can do: read the reviews on Amazon.

Screen Shot 2013-04-22 at 8.10.06 PM

I'm talking major 5-star review overhang (above), almost always a solid indicator of real quality and value.

But don't take my word for it: look at the wads of fur (above and below) removed from cats all over the place with this tool: amazing.

How many hairballs averted, one wonders.

It's as much fun to use as it must be to be FURminated: I just love my sessions with Gray Cat.

When I got mine there was only one version for cats and it cost around $30.

Now it comes in four varieties: for long and short hair cats, each iteration then subdivided by size into versions for large and small animals.

Also, the price is about 60% what it used to be.

If you buy one and don't love it, let me know and I'll happily refund twice what you paid for it.

Because that's the bookofjoe way.

Taking your pet bears out for their morning walk — They do things differently in Russia

Screen Shot 2013-04-22 at 9.06.16 PM

From EnglishRussia:

"Just a couple regular citizens on the morning walk with their pets in a neighborhood of apartment houses."

Screen Shot 2013-04-22 at 9.06.27 PM

"Look how people are not alarmed, why express signs of interest if this is a regular thing going around every day here?"

I'm thinking that if you had a couple of these wandering around your place, Dropcams might be superfluous in terms of home security.
