I still have a Brooklyn accent, thicker than a Peter Luger's steak, in spite of being in Virginia for the last 17 years.
True Story:
I once went golfing with a born and bred Virginian (actually an FFV) who responded to my giving him the honor to putt first, by staring blankly at me for a minute before he said: "What does gahead mean?"
