Sid Vicious Pencils

Sidpencils

Wrote Nicholas Carr: "For Father's Day, my daughter sent me an official set of Sid Vicious pencils. They were created for the current 'Punk: Chaos to Couture' exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art."

He continued, "For the record, I saw Sid perform, backed up by ex-New York Dolls Jerry Nolan and Killer Kane, at Max's Kansas City in September of 1978. A couple of weeks later he went to jail after stabbing and killing (allegedly) his girlfriend Nancy Spungeon. A few months after that, while out on parole, he died of misadventure. I’m not sure he ever made it to the Met."

Get yours here.

Don't sleep on it: I can say with 100% certainty that these will sell out and you will be left holding the (sadly empty) bag.

Count on it.

I don't want to hear your whining and boo-hooing when that happens.

Fair warning.

Shape up.

Do it now.

Think like an anesthesiologist.

Apple's new HQ and GCHQ in Cheltenham: Coincidence? I don't think so...

B

Sure, there are those who will say Norman Foster never heard of GCHQ or saw a picture of its head office in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, which holds around 5,500 staff, before delivering the drawings for Apple's new spaceship HQ building (below), slated to house about 12,000 employees.

C

I'm not one of them.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (O.C.C.)

30zSKINA-articleLarge

David Klasfeld (above) — a makeup artist and CEO, creative director and founder of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics — named his company after his OCD, diagnosed when he was 14.

He told Laren Stover in a New York Times story that "I had 42 shampoos and conditioners because I could never use the same ones twice in a week, so I could go six weeks without using the same combination. I didn’t name the company arbitrarily."

Now 35, he chooses shade names that are "not what you would find in a typical department store palette."

There is Hoochie, Harlot, and NSFW, among others, but the company "is best known for a product called Lip Tar that has become a cult favorite among the kind of cutting-edge makeup enthusiasts who also tend to favor the brands Urban Decay and Illamasqua."

"Makeup artists praise the brand for its intense pigmentation and professional innovative formulas. Mr. Klasfeld gave credit to one artist, Sharon Gault, for 'putting O.C.C. on the map' when she used Lip Tar on the actress and PETA spokeswoman Pamela Anderson for a David LaChapelle shoot. Humane animal treatment may be the brand's mission statement, but counting rituals play a role in the brand's strategy. 'What's been amazing about the company is turning what’s viewed as a negative into a positive,” said Mr. Klasfeld of obsessive-compulsive disorder. 'Coordinating and matched sets are definitely things that are born out of an O.C.D. mind.'"
