"The Counselor" — A movie that adds a whole new layer of meaning to "Schadenfreude"

Think you're having a bad day?

Or that your life is a mess?

Play hooky for a couple hours and duck in somewhere to see "The Counselor."

I guarantee you'll come out feeling a whole lot better about your own situation.

Talk about superstars from top to bottom: Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Brad Pitt, to name five.

Directed by Ridley Scott.

And with a script by Cormac McCarthy that in and of itself is a thing of stark and frightening beauty.

Yes, it's a violent film.

And Cameron Diaz steals the show as Malkina, as bad as bad can be.

Worse, in fact.

But the violence, it's not gratuitous: you can understand that this is the business (selling drugs) the protagonists have chosen.
