What do you get if you cross a waffle with a donut? A wonut

From The Economist: "Not all marriages are happy, but Alex Hernandez thinks that the union of a waffle and a doughnut will be. The owner of Waffles Café in Chicago starting selling what he calls 'wonuts' in April. They are deep-fried waffles, topped with icing and multicoloured sprinkles (top). Daily sales went from 24 to 600 within two days. Buzzfeed, a website, called the new snack 'proof that a benevolent Food God exists.'"

Unnatural, I say. When Worlds collide! Waffle and Donut are completely separate schools. I've never seen a cop with a box of waffles.

Doffles. No - dooffles.

And, I'd call that a woenut - what - 70-200g simple carbohydrates and another 10-20g of fat? That may well be the single most energy-dense food ever posted here!

N.B. Buzzfeed was one of the first edited topical news aggregators a decade ago. It has morphed into into a site that links to Wonuts. I don't think that monetization has benefitted that site's substantive content.
