Hey Marianne,
Thanks for your post(and apologies for this late extra comment). It was a trip down "Memory Boulevard" as I imagine it may have been for Joe, from his L.A. days. Ahhh good times....

Bigelow Boulevard, ooh, it does roll around in the mouth like a lovely confection....

Notwithstanding the tiny percentage shown on the bar chart, my earliest years in west LA and Van Nuys were graced with a lot of boulevards.

There were the matter-of-fact ones like Washington, Lincoln and Wilshire, as well as Westwood where our house was. There were heroic boulevards like Olympic and Victory. And there was Ventura, running on for miles, long before there was the freeway, its very name evoking possibility and adventure.

There were Sunset and Hollywood, the boulevards of romance and intrigue. And there were LA’s own boulevard names that rolled off the tongue and delighted my ears: La Cienega, Santa Monica, Sepulveda. For non-natives, the accent in Sepulveda is on the second syllable. Sepulveda Boulevard. Poetry.

And there was Pico Boulevard, my favorite.

Of course, what didn’t so much roll off my two-or-three-year-old tongue was the word “boulevard,” which came out something like “bully-waard.”

I still remember the day my father gently mimicked me, letting me know I was mispronouncing the word.

And I also remember the twinkle in his eye, which let me know he was okay with that.

I've lived on a Way, 3 Avenues, 2 Streets a Canyon and a Court. I like my Court, but I imagine a Terrace would be nice.
Happy New Year Joe.

Boulevard ~ a wide street in a town or city, typically one lined with trees.

Growing up near Pittsburgh, Bigelow Boulevard would roll off the tongue.

Not too many trees, but interesting, It would have been a Grand Arch if only...

I think the DataIsUgly subreddit is calling out for this one.
