Terrence Malick's first IMAX film hits theaters October 7.

"Voyage of Time" is about the birth of the universe.

If you're thinking "wasn't there a lot of 'birth of the universe' stuff in Malick's 2011 film 'The Tree of Life'?" you are correct, and Malick has said that much of this film is pulled from the same pile of footage

The trailer promises that viewers will "experience the unfolding of time."

There will be two versions —a 40-minute IMAX version narrated by Brad Pitt and a 90-minute 35mm version narrated by Cate Blanchett.

The synopsis of the film describes it as "a cosmic experience — a hymn to the glories of nature, life and scientific discovery."

Malik has been working on "Voyage of Time" for over 30 years.

In 2013, some of his investors sued him for breach of contract, which seems fair.

Sori Yanagi Ice Cream Spoon — "Designed to feel smooth when you put it in your mouth"

W04248pb01

I featured this wonderful stainless steel spoon back in 2011 and again — inexplicably — only a year later, in 2012.

Both times I extolled its merits as a superb ice cream spoon, the purpose for which Sori Yanagi created it in 1974.

I've had mine for at least 10 years and they still look as if they just arrived today.

Praised as a "Super Normal" object by Jasper Morrison and Naoto Fukasawa.

Over the intervening four years I've come to realize that I eat far more soft cheese than ice cream, and a year or so ago it dawned on me that using this spoon for such cheese is much better than a bespoke soft cheese knife or ordinary teaspoon.

Maybe I'll forward this post to the manufacturer of these spoons: perhaps they'd want to add soft cheese to the items best tasted with it.

Excellent for custard, pudding, and yogurt as well.

Apiece, $4.50.

Set of six: $29.59.
