Olympus Mons (largest [known] volcano in the solar system) compared to France

From amapaday and BrilliantMaps:

Olympus Mons is the tallest mountain and largest volcano on any planet in the solar system.

Its height from base to peak is 13.6 miles (72,000 feet), well over twice that of Mount Everest.

Olympus Mons is the youngest of the large volcanoes on Mars.

It was likely formed during the Hesperian Period, between 2 and 3.7 billion years ago, and has been known to astronomers since the late 19th century.

It is a shield volcano (similar to the volcanoes than make up the Hawaiian Islands).

It has very gently sloping profile with an average slope of only 5°.

Because of the size of Olympus Mons and its shallow slopes, an observer standing on the Martian surface would be unable to view the entire profile of the volcano, even from a great distance.

Similarly, an observer near the summit would be unaware of standing on a very high mountain, as the slope of the volcano would extend far beyond the horizon, a mere 1.8 miles away.

At this very moment the first person to set foot on Olympus Mons is going about her or his business here on our blue planet.

15 Minute Timer: Anti-Procrastination Tool?

It's so much harder to start something than keep doing it.

Say to yourself, "I'll give it 15 minutes and then quit."

More often than not — at least for me — once I've begun, continuing isn't nearly as difficult.

This timer was created by Polite for the School of Life, a London collective.

5.1"H x 2.2"Ø.

Made in the U.K.

Hey, wait a sec — what's that music I'm hearing?
