Complete fly brain imaged at nanoscale resolution

"Scientists compiled 21 million images to craft the highest-resolution view yet of the fruit fly brain. A 3D view of the neurons in the fruit fly brain that have been traced so far highlights the complexity in this relatively simple brain."

Outline's Easter egg

Yesterday, I was getting the usual annoying "You've read your last complimentary article" from Wired (above) when I had an idea: try the Outline Chrome extension.

Voilà: the article appeared in its entirety,

as always on Outline, without ads or annoying popups etc.

From the website:

This globe is created with both scientific and artistic purposes.

The scientific task is to explain with a strong visual impact the relationships between the ancient supercontinent called Pangaea and the present world continents with their countries and cities.

The artistic task is to represent inside the frames of a real Pangaea map all the countries and lands that we generally see when we look at a modern political map in a clear and recognizable way .

The resulting graphic visual impact makes people play with the surprising connections between cities and people that now seem to be far apart in our conceptions of the world.
