Artworks you'll never see in the U.S.

Why?

Because they're dangerous.

The Guardian's got the back story.

And then some.

I'm reminded of when I was in New Zealand and read daily about people who'd died in various outdoorsy pursuits like white water rafting, climbing, zip lines and whatnot.

The courts there would laugh if anyone brought suit.

But I digress.

The top two photos are of Anish Kapoor's 1992 piece, "Descent Into Limbo."

The lower two are of the crack Doris Salcedo cut through the floor of Tate Modern's Turbine Hall in 2007.

Above, what it looked like back in 2005 when it was under construction.

Below, what it looked like in July 2017.

When you clicked on it, about half the pixels still worked; the others were dead or redirects (below).

How do you spell "link decay?"

Since last summer, the whole site's gone belly up such that now when you search http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com you get image #2 above — "SOLD OUT!" — and then when you click on a square you get all sorts of virtual detritus.

Still one of the best computer/internet related things ever.
