The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock — T.S. Eliot

Screen Shot 2019-02-12 at 8.09.49 AM

Poem in its entirety here.

After composing the previous post, having invoked Michelangelo I immediately started thinking about how wonderful this masterpiece* seemed to me when I first encountered it in high school English class.

It's just as good now as it ever was, and it will still be good aboard the first interstellar transport (assuming the travelers are awake from time to time, as opposed to being in deep — hopefully fully reversible upon arrival — coma for the duration.

FunFact: James Joyce referred to the author as Tears Eliot.

*Published originally in his book "Prufrock and Other Observations" in 1917

An OBG for me, former English major. But quite different now, half a century farther on.
