Everyday Luxury: Toilet Paper

Screen Shot 2019-03-28 at 11.16.42 AM

Whenever I'm going to stay overnight anywhere other than my home, I always pack a roll of my toilet paper (above).

Long story short: it's always better than what I'll find in friends' bathrooms or those of hotels.

It's not even close.

Why not buy the best when the price differential isn't on the scale of Lexus v Kia or first class air travel v coach?

Life's too short to use toilet paper that's barely there (see what I did there? But I digress).

Small luxuries make life better out of proportion to their cost.

Try it, you'll like it.

If you're not completely satisfied with your new luxe toilet paper, don't return it to me: rather, let me know how much more it cost than your usual brand and I'll cheerfully refund the difference.

It's the boj way.

bookofjoe's Favorite Thing: Das Q5 Keyboard

Razer Long Shot

I ponied up $249 for it a few months ago and it's turned out to be one of those things that keeps on giving, each time I use it — which is hours every day.

It took a couple weeks for my TechnoDolt©® self to twig how to use it.

Now that I've got it up and running, I'm pleased as punch every time I hear — and feel — the clackety-clack of the old-fashioned keys.

It took me a while to get used to the gamer-type keyboard font, but I'm good with it now.

It's fun to use.

Think about that for a sec: how many things in daily life can you say that about?

The included full-width easily attachable/detachable wrist rest — made of matte black rubber that's soothing against the skin and waterproof and easy to clean (a must for me), and which attaches to the keyboard via hidden magnets — was/is an unexpected bonus.

The brightly backlit keys — I chose green (top) from among the multitude of options since it's so bright I can easily see the identities of the keys even in bright daylight; the look at night is to imagine you're at the controls of the starship Enterprise — are fo shizzle.

Lagniappe: since it's USB-powered, no more irritation with daily failure to connect/lost signals of Bluetooth keyboards.

One more thing: I'm using the keyboard in what might be called "Dumb" (which is just fine with me) mode.

The keyboard does zillions of techie things way above my pay grade (above).

Have a look:
