Diatomaceous earth in its natural powdery form is the best insecticide. The little particles are microscopically sharp; they injure the insects to death, rather than poisoning, so there is no building immunity. And, though I'm sure you wouldn't want to inhale the stuff, it's relatively safe for people and pets. Great for home and garden, especially here in the bug-ridden south.
