"American Woman" — Susan Choi

I just finished this 2003 novel based on the Patty Hearst kidnapping.

Choi's second book, it was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

Like all three of her novels I've read previously — the most recent, this year's "Trust Exercise," featured in boj on June 15, 2019 — it's excellent.

Her characters seem as real as real people; they come to life in your mind like living, breathing holograms.

In the mail: her first book, "The Foreign Student," published in 1998.

Add her to the short list of authors all of whose books I've read (or will have read), each new one a must-read.
