Time Machine?

Time machine

Kurt Gödel once remarked, "If time travel is possible, then there is no such thing as time."

I stumbled upon my Google photo archive (I had no idea such a thing even existed) and was gobsmacked to find a zillion pix dating all the way back to the turn of the century.

Quite interesting, browsing the past....

I happened on the photo up top and was mystified when I read the details surrounding its creation: How is it possible that I had one of my annual wallet calendars for 2007 on January 1, 2002?

Then the penny dropped and I realized I must have never set the camera's calendar: sure enough, every picture taken with that Minolta Dimage X is timed and dated 5:30 AM Tuesday, January 1, 2002.

The cool thing about google photos is tag a few people and it goes through your whole collection and finds the. It's great for family funerals. It works with locations too.

And here's what you can do to fix it, there are metadata editors, you can at least get the year correct if you can figure it out.

As you say, there goes the day.

Reminds me of a true crime story on TV. Police started investigating a crime and they were using surveillance cameras very intensively for this. They got to a place where they were stumped until somebody decided to go back and check sources and — sure enough — the time on the surveillance camera has never been set correctly and was off by some hours. So they “refocused“ their search and solved the crime.
