Zero-Tolerance

I have two areas of focus currently: stinkbugs (above) and bird poop in my house.

Stinkbugs because of their very annoying habit of dropping onto my head at night while I'm reading in a dark room lit only by my computer screen: by the time I'm startled into recognition and try to swat them off me, they've already deployed their namesake odor onto my deflecting hand.

Thus, whenever I espy one in the course of my movement around the house, I immediately drop everything and get my Dustbuster.

Bird poop in my house?

You're prolly thinking I've got some issues and I do, but not the way you think in this instance.

The genesis of this problem is my practice of opening all doors and windows when it's warm enough to do so, but without using screens, which I deployed until a couple years ago.

Why the sudden transformation into Nature Boy I have no idea.

But I digress.

Along with a wide-open door/window policy come wasps, bees, lizards, and the occasional bird, driving Gray Cat into a frenzy of excitement as she zips around the house chasing the bird, which drops white poop everywhere in its frenzied search for an exit before fleeing.

Sometimes I don't discover the poop deposits till months after they've happened, especially if they're in hard-to-see nooks and crannies.

But, when I do happen on one, I stop everything and go to the warm wet paper towel to clean up.

Flautist, not to worry: the open doors and sliding patio windows referred to are all backstopped with GCPB (Gray Cat-Proof Barriers) made from large door screens strategically placed to make it impossible for her to bolt the premises.

Regular windows remain screened for her enjoyment and your piece of mind.

Perhaps I'll shoot a video showing what measures I've taken.

Stay tuned.

Oh, yeah, one more thing: how come all of a sudden I'm not getting 404 Page Not Found when I try to post comments?

Has TypePad, after a decade of FAILs, finally fixed itself?

Open doors and windows, oh dear...
Bird poop will clean up, stinkbug stink will dissipate. I'm worried that the priceless, beloved Gray Cat could jump into the great outdoors and go walkabout. Please tell me she's safe, somehow.

Be sure to thank Walmart for importing those stinkbugs.
