JustWatch — First stop for movies

Screen Shot 2020-06-22 at 7.36.52 PM

I think I mentioned in passing that earlier this year I serendipitously discovered that countless movies that cost $3.99 to rent on Apple TV, Prime Video, and many other streaming channels shown up top, are free on Netflix.

Just yesterday I happened on "Lockout," a 2012 Sci-Fi thriller directed by Luc Besson that I'd never heard of before.

Plugged it into the JustWatch search box and lookie here at what I found: free (all together now) — the way we like it — on Netflix.

The upper row of icons is where the site's search engine looks for movies; the bottom row is where it found them.

You can too!

There is no such thing as a bad decision

Zz

I've never been able to convince people that the headline is true.

Here's my reasoning:

• Everyone tries to make the best decision possible using all available information

• Sometimes the results are favorable, other times not

• In those cases, the outcome is bad but the decision was good, as good as it could have been when you made it

• If you maintain that a bad outcome means you made a bad decision, I'd respond that you are right — if you could have predicted the future, and after seeing it you still made the same decision

• Calling a decision bad means you saw the future but went ahead anyway and acted to your disadvantage

• That being unlikely, you've never made a bad decision — and you never will

Portrait of Helene Klimt — Gustav Klimt

Gustav-Klimt-Portrait-Of-Helene-Klimt

When I read the fine print above this painting, which appeared on today's daily desk calendar, I was taken aback.

Gustav Klimt?

Who knew?

Anna Wintour (below),

call your office.

Klimt (1862-1918) created this piece, a portrait of his six-year-old niece, in 1898.

The oil on cardboard painting resides in a private collection.
