'Patients facing imminent death may have two visitors'

Above, the University of Virginia Hospital's new visitor policy, starting today.

It was buried deep in a front page story (below)

in this morning's Charlottesville Daily Progress.

That this sort of thing is now unremarkable; that a nearly invisible film of death has descended such that it's taken for granted as part of the view; that for the past month the equivalent of a 9/11 has happened daily, pretty much unremarked in most people's lives: the ground has shifted beneath our feet.

Knit Wood Fort

Sui generis.

From the website (alas, now defunct):

The Knit Fort is a flexible hardwood structure that can be made to fit the size and shape of your desires.

Repetition of two wooden parts creates a complex textural surface.

The assembly technique, similar to knitting, allows the addition or subtraction of columns responding to the site context without altering the design.

Depending on the scale, the structure can be a play space, terrace sunshade, conference room dome, outdoor shower, or interior/ exterior cabana.

Once upon a time you could actually buy this.

I don't recall the exact price, but I remember it was eye-wateringly expensive.
