you could also hold the bottle with the spout on top, it'll pour easier

A cap that screws on the bottle with a clear hose attached can't miss, great for oil and ATF also.

there's another method if you lack a water bottle.

which you should not, they are littered up and down roadways all over the world.

walk fifty feet and you will find one.

nevertheless, if you lack a bottle . . .

when the container has the pour spout offset from center, as it does above, you can control the flow by inverting the bottle.

upside it from how you see it in the picture, so the spout is at the top.

you pour from a greater height, though you have better flow control.
