Louvre puts 482,000 works of art online

That amounts to about 3/4 of its entire collection.

"It's just overwhelming," said Andrew McClellan, a Tufts University professor and author of Inventing the Louvre: Art, Politics and the Origins of the Modern Museum.

The strategy of putting nearly everything online is in keeping with the Enlightenment ideals that shaped the museum after the French Revolution, he said, "Collecting the world's knowledge together under one roof, and then making it available for researchers and the general public."

Where is this?

Guess again - and again

Answer here this time tomorrow.

Hint: bigger than a bread box.

Another: not within walking distance.

I mean, it could be within walking distance of where you are but to prove that to the satisfaction of me and your fellow readers, you would need to submit a photo of yourself at the site with a copy of today's newspaper prominently displayed such that we can see the date.

Acme Corporation Products

Flautist commented as follows on yesterday's post "Looney Tunes Guide to Interactions Between Wile E. Coyote & Road Runner":

Turns out Chicago-based artist Rob Loukotka shares Flautist's interest in "Acme's lousy products."

So much so that he and his studio, Fringe Focus, put all 126 on one 24-inch by 36-inch poster.

From Mental Floss:

To come up with the design, Loukotka watched 43 Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner cartoons that aired between 1949 and 1994, spending more than 100 hours creating intricate renderings of products like the Acme Bird Seed, Acme Glue, the Acme Instant Icicle Maker, the book Birds and Their Habitat, and more.

The poster costs $49.
