Flatid Planthopper Nymph

Native to the jungles of Ecuador.

The popcorn kernel-like appearance of this tiny creature is the result of an accumulation of waxy hydrophobic filaments that grow from a gland on its abdomen.

The fluffy decoration is meant to serve as a form of protection and concealment.
