Would you like to live here?

This is a new apartment building in Amsterdam, part of a development called Valley.

From themindcircle:

With its landscape of jagged stone terraces, bay windows, and balconies,

covered in dense planting designed by landscape architect Piet Oudolf, Valley brings much-needed greening to Amsterdam's Zuidas business district.

Sugar, Sugar

Yesterday I posted my grocery shopping list.

Concerned readers, who know there's no backup should I suddenly drop dead from diabetic ketoacidosis, commented:

... that seems like a lot of soda.

Yeah, there is a lot of soda on this list. High fructose corn syrup (the main ingredient in soda) is not good for you.

 Diabetes medication? 😉

But damn, yeah, that's a LOT of sugar on your list.

I have great news.

Turns out all my favorite sodas come in Zero Sugar iterations, my preference.

I chose not to specify Zero Sugar Coke/Orange Crush/Root Beer on my list because the repetition would have disrupted my onscreen feng shui.

So everyone can relax: now that you know all my sweetness comes from within, I should be good for another 25 years or so here.

You know what music I'm hearing 'cause you're hearing it too.

'Drawing Life' — George Booth

YouTube description: "In 'Drawing Life,' directed by Nathan Fitch, the New Yorker's George Booth looks back on fifty years of work — including the only cartoon to be published in the issue following 9/11."

I thought about it for a while and indeed George Booth is my favorite New Yorker cartoonist of them all — which is saying a lot.

Getting a cartoon into that magazine means leaping over the highest bar of them all.

Neck Cooler

From the website:

It does have a cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic look and might make you look like a character from a sci-fi manga (not that that's a bad thing!), but don't let its industrial looks fool you: the Thanko Neck Cooler Pro R4 is your best ally against a hot summer, even like those you'd get if you were working construction in Tokyo in August.

With three modes (high power/high/low) to chose from, its cooling plates can go anywhere between 4°C (39°F) and 15°C (59°F) lower than the environmental temperature.

And if your neck feels cool, so does your head and then your whole body follows!

The Thanko Neck Cooler Pro R4 is size-adjustable, allowing for neck circumferences from 37 cm (14.5") to 50 cm (19.6").

It gets its power from its dedicated battery, but also comes with extra USB cables so you can use it with any USB mobile battery or a continuous source.

This means that its running time can be anywhere from two hours (for the high power mode on a fully charged dedicated battery) to practically forever (on a continuous source)!

No matter where you are or what type of activity you are doing, it keeps you cool while everyone around you suffers!
