'From One Second To The Next' — Werner Herzog's 2013 film about texting while driving might well save someone's life (if they're not watching it while driving...)

YouTube caption:

Acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog wants to bring an end to the scourge of texting while driving once and for all — and he just might do it.
In a powerful 35-minute public service announcement entitled From "One Second to the Next," Herzog hauntingly and painfully documents the tragic testimonies of individuals who have shattered lives — and have had their lives shattered — as a direct result of texting and driving.
"There's a completely new culture out there," Herzog told the Associated Press. "I'm not a participant of texting and driving — or texting at all — but I see there's something going on in civilization which is coming with great vehemence at us."

The Twitter account People Selling Mirrors

is exactly what it sounds like:

a chronicle of classified ads for mirrors

where the seller can’t figure out how to get out of the way.

The people have spoken: Hey Joe — SHUT UP!

Silence wins

Yesterday I conducted an A/B experiment à la Marissa Mayer back in the day when she was making Google "Lord of Search."

I made two RayBan Stories videos (screengrabs up top), each 30 seconds long, one with me talking and explaining my experiment, the other with no speech, both conducted while driving east on Barracks Road en route to the bank and FedEx.

As any fool can plainly see by the YouTube view count, less is more.

One more thing: I realize any video can become silent by simply muting the audio but why should viewers have to do anything to enjoy the absence of my palaver?

Mini Sriracha Keychain

Last month's post about this summer's unexpected Sriracha sauce shortage caused dismay among the condiment's legion of aficionados.

In the event you've still got some on your shelf, here's a handy repository for that last ounce.

From the website:

Get spicy everywhere you go with the Mini Sriracha Keychain. Having your secret sauce with you at all times can save you (and your friends) from the dull existence of bland, tasteless food.

The bottles come empty with the iconic Sriracha logo emblazoned on the front, and they're refillable so they're ready to be topped up with your favorite sauce again and again.

The leak-proof cap saves you from accidental spills, and it's TSA friendly, complete with a handy carabiner for easy transport. Hang your favorite condiment on your bag, purse, or keys and always be ready to get a little saucy no matter your situation.
